How to Reach Arunachal Pradesh

By flight
Donyi Polo Airport at Hollongi, about 25 km from Itanagar, has direct IndiGo flights to Delhi and Kolkata and Alliance Air flights to Guwahati and Tezu. Tezu, Pasighat and Ziro airports have Alliance Air regional services to Guwahati. Lilabari airport in Assam, 72 km away, is the nearest alternative.

By train
Naharlagun station, 15 km from Itanagar, has the Naharlagun–Guwahati Vistadome Shatabdi (train 12087/12088; about 6 hours, three days a week), the daily Donyi Polo Express via Guwahati, the Naharlagun–Tinsukia Intercity and the bi-weekly Arunachal AC Express to Delhi. Bhalukpong and Gumto are the state’s other stations. The Murkongselek–Pasighat line is opening in phases, with Pasighat targeted for end-2026.

By road
The state-owned Arunachal Pradesh State Transport Services (APSTS) runs daily buses from Itanagar to Guwahati, Tezpur, Shillong, Dimapur and Dibrugarh, with online booking at apsts.arunachal.gov.in. NH 415 links Itanagar to Banderdewa and NH 15; the Trans-Arunachal Highway (NH 13) runs about 1,559 km from Tawang to Wakro. Itanagar is reachable by road from Banderdewa, North Lakhimpur, Tezpur and Guwahati.
