Arunachal Pradesh has climbed 12 positions in the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) Ease of Doing Business rankings released in January 2025, registering its strongest improvement among all North-Eastern states. The state now ranks among the top 20 states nationally for business reform implementation.
The improvement has been attributed to several key reforms: the launch of the APIIP (Arunachal Pradesh Industrial and Investment Policy) online portal, the operationalization of a fully digital single-window clearance system, reduction in the average approval timeline from 90 days to 21 days, and the introduction of the self-certification scheme for non-hazardous industries.
Chief Secretary Dharmendra, who led the reform committee, noted that the state processed over 340 new business applications through the digital portal in the last quarter alone. "Our target is to break into the top 15 nationally by next year. The reforms are not just about rankings -- they are creating real impact for entrepreneurs and investors on the ground," he said.
